I ADORE this game. It's a lot of fun to go through different playthroughs to see what details you missed or how the story can change depending on past choices you've made. Even from the main story over on to the camp route. I am loving the Vampire route and how Mila is able to build her relationships with her pets. To me it feels like another side quest where you level them up to get to know their story better. Idk, the details are really great and not to mention I love how full of content each chapter appears to have, both in the main and vampire storylines. Although I will admit, I was loving the interactions between Mila and Ashe until I reached the end of the main story. I was so bummed xD Regardless I can't wait to see her again in the vamp route... hopefully
Hello, can someone tell me or help me how to open the door to FRIEDRICH KNIGHTS SANCTUARY?
I have these numbers but I don't know if they are correct, they are 9 6 8 3 Please, I'm new to the game and I liked it a lot but I don't know how to do that.
Hey, MKRU was wondering if you could help a dev friend of mine with a issue he doesn't know how to solve. He doesn't know how to make save files built in to the android apk like you have and I wondered if you know of an easy way to explain this method. Also great new update. I can't wait to take down that new church of nuns.
This game is incredible. At every turn I'm stunned by the amount of love and skill that has clearly gone into this game at every turn.
I cannot remember the last time I played a game and kept repeating to myself "This game is so good."
Realistic and loveable characters, drama, comedy, heartbreak, and with happy endings (and happy endings ;)) to some stories and tragedy in others.
And the game's visual design! Each town and even each building(!) created not only with realism in mind but with touches of taste from the individuals who live there!
Why do people love the Lord of the Rings universe? Why is Tolkien's work so popular? One of the key reasons - and I put it to you this is one of the keys to any great work - is the verisimilitude. Reading it, you get a feeling that you are seeing merely a glimpse of the world and a glimpse of the tales therein.
This game has that key. The characters have motivations, personalities, agendas, flaws, and tastes. They are believably real, and even in their relatively brief dialogue options they can be seen to carry on their lives impacted by you.
And what is done with this key? It unlocks the heart all stories: conflict. You, dear reader considering whether or not to play this game, might not care about the technicalities of story writing and design, and that's fine, but, as an amateur writer, I do, so I have to point it out: the characters have conflicting motivations and beliefs, and not only that, they change! Character growth! And is it done ham-fistedly with a moral agenda? No! Their decisions are ambiguous! Verisimilitude! Or, in game-design terms: immersion! When I play this game I forget I'm playing a game and feel like I'm exploring a world.
The lore is fabulously paced (and consistent, naturally, I've come to expect no less while playing): exposition dumps? Pffft, that's for amateurs. Pointless main story scenes? The work of a novice. And what of predictable outcomes? Yes, who among us has not guessed how a film ends, but does that detract from the experience? No, because there is still joy in seeing the characters themselves unravel the story. And that is conflict between the reader/player and the characters. That is the work of a pro.
But, aside from the visual design, these are all arguably comments on the game as a story. Is it a good game based on what makes it a game, as opposed to what makes it a story? Well, this is not a review, this is merely an expression of awe and praise to its creator, so I won't analyse it. That said however (and noting potential gamers might read this as well as the creator), I'll say this: although I won't call it ground-breaking, that's not what the game tries to be, and I argue that art is well-appreciated with a consideration for what it wants to be. Its strengths lie in its story, its characters, and its art.
But does that mean the game-elements are bad? Of course not. The UI is simple and easy to navigate. There are 50 save slots: plenty to explore the multiple routes of what is arguably a game-based choose your own adventure story (CYOA) with some branching paths from a main story. The battle-mechanics are varied enough to support multiple tactical choices, and the difficulty balancing is enough to support a thrilling risk without the need to grind levels (although, admittedly, I've only completed an estimated 60% of the game).
But as a game/CYOA, what really brings it home are the alternate vampire routes. The game description calls it a singular alternate route, but I'd argue there are two, although I have the impression (I haven't completed either) that one has significantly more to explore than the other. Such are the joys of CYOAs.
As for the advertised 20+ hours of gameplay, although I know myself to be a slow player of games, how glad I am to find that is for me a conservative estimate.
And lastly, there is of course the art. Some lewd games will be good but then unfortunately provide only a few works of art. This game has 146.
As mentioned, this is not a review, it is mainly praise, of which I give as much as I can. Top marks - 7/7. (Yes, I know that's a strange scale, but I think it's better than the common 1-10 scale)
But of course, I also praise while conscientious of everyone else - you who read this while considering whether or not to play the game. To you I say this: yes, I know I'm enthusiastic and passionate about this game. I love this game, and I am biased, and you, potential gamer, might not share my tastes and feel the same.
Does the game have weaknesses? Absolutely. All art does, and no art, no matter how great, can please everyone. Tolkien's work - blasphemous as this may sound - does not appeal to everyone.
However, consider what the art wants to be, and then consider how it delivers that. Read the game's description. If you like what it offers, then I want you to know that it delivers, and it delivers it exceptionally well.
Thanks for the high praise and detailed description! The game has definitely been a labor of love over many years. I’m happy to know that you’ve enjoyed it enough to express such passionate thoughts on it! Greatly appreciated from a creator’s point of view to read this.
Update: the self-targeting item crash bug happens during every fight. Attempts to use an item will result in the situation on the screenshot above. The only option is to quit the game. Tried clean reinstall (delete game, delete all files, reboot phone, install anew) - it's still there with a fresh save (chose NOT to import at the start). Haven't tried imported saves. Android version 11 (MI global 12-smth), game version 5.4.1.
So im not sure if anybody has pointed this out but i think there is a massive plot hole in the story. When you get the Option to begin the Vampire route at the start of Chapter 3. You guys have 2 of the Dark Orbs and the third and fourth are where they are at in Chapters 3 and 4 respectively. Ashe can get the Third one easily but like with happens in Chapter 4 she would be caught and all four would be in the hands of You Know Who. it would not be to much of a stretch for You Know Who to get the Dagger and release the Final Boss of the Game onto the World. So i guess my question is how did that not happen and how did Ashe show up in Chapter 3 of the Vampire route?
Since Mila can fall into her slumber during a wide period of game time, the exact reasoning for the Dark Orbs getting scattered can vary. I think its left to interpretation how the events fall into place.
Also, I don’t recall Ashe appearing in Chapter 3-V. Where was she?!
i cant use items anymore after the Update. I imported my saves though so that have something to do with it. I cant use items during battle the games crashes and using some of the skills also crashes the game. Its also on Android so that may also be it.
thanks for the info keep up the great work. After you complete the Rosenbland Estate on the Vampire Route i cant save anymore i can only use the healing circles to autosave. Sorry im being a nag.
The Saving problem fixed itself though so i do not know what going on with that. Also just finished the third chapter great addition to the story can wait for more. i Can confirm items do not work even if you start a new game. I had a fun time cheesing the Faye fight because i couldn't use my healing items so i had to bank on her missing with her Bite skill or not using it altogether. Provided a great challenge
I have to say, I've been following for a while and I'm glad you've been managing, but Im a little disappointed that even after farming all the way to BP 80 and spamming laurels, I'm not allowed to beat the White Knight. :(
Nice update, but a little disappointed that there's no narrative mode saves like I suggested last time. You should upload narrative mode save files in in addition to the regular mode.
When Cassie said "there's plenty of places to get healed" She meant holy water right? Would using sanctusaid turn someone into a thrall after frequent use or was that because Mila took too much blood from the pirates?
with every update, there are various changes made under the hood, which cause older saves to have issues. I would recommend using the saves I have included and start from there.
There’s 9 different saves at various points in the game (details are in the ReadMe). Patrons also have access to a dev room that let you further tweak your save with items, armor, and gold you may have had.
Can you explain to me in detail how vampire pregnancy works in Crimson Veil? Can female vampires get impregnated by other male vampires or is it only male humans that can do that? What about male vampires and female humans?
Hello there, I'm a bit confused on how to get "A disturbance in the woods." I've completed all the requirements according to the walkthrough however the NPC isn't spawning in Humilem Village. Is there anything else that needs to be done in order for them to spawn or is it a possible glitch?
I have finished the 1st contract (the pirate one) and sent Bianca away. It mentions in the walkthrough to enter humilem village, waterfall ridge 3 times and the npc should be at the water but they don't seem to be spawning in.
I completed the main route for the second time, it's still as satisfying as it is. Although, a New Game Plus would be nice if I want to start over again but keep my equipment and stats. Do you plan on adding something like that?
I mean, at that point it would start to become a bit too labor intensive instead of a fun, quick addition. I want the focus on new content to be on the vampire route, at least for now. I can’t spread myself too thin adding new content everywhere, as cool as that would be.
Honestly, IMO, the best thing to do for full NG+ support is to allow for players to win every fight that the plot mandates you lose, and unlock an alternate ending or something.
Depending on how strong Dealer is, maybe NG+ Vampire Mila could ACTUALLY beat what Dorian wants out of him? But hey, you don't have to. It can just be "start the game again with big stats and ignore the canon inconsistency"
another thing I noticed, this time on the Vampire Route. The vampire hunters inside the towns are fairly weak after chapter V-2 and some training. buying a ton of SP-replenishing items makes it so you can spam fire spells that attack all of them, and never worry about backup. speaking of which, even when I targeted one at a time, backup never seemed to work properly and would only display a message but never actually did anything.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I never updated them to account for the extra training that’s currently available. It will be addressed in the next update.
I believe you've talked about this in another comment but I do want to bring this to your attention again, the subject being the St. Viviene fight. remembering my own struggles with this, I decided to give fighting her on a maxed out file a try. the result was having a hard time beating her one level below the maximum (which I believe is 8) and feeling a burning need to post this. to max the save file, I fought the same ghoul over and over again until it dropped a vampire dust, making a mistake here and there, losing a total of 3 vampire dust before the fight. overall, I just want to say that the fight's balancing is a huge issue for new players not expecting the difficulty of the fight, and the fact that you played the whole game beginning to end to address issues like this is extremely admirable. I wish you have a great time developing this game moving forward.
Viviene has always been a poorly designed boss in my opinion. Its hard to introduce interesting boss mechanics that early into the game without it overwhelming the player. But I think at this point I would rather the fight be easy and boring than frustrating.
Update on this situation: the max level at this point is like 10, not 8. and I was level 9 at the time of the battle. but other than that, I just wanted to say that the main thing that bothered me about the boss fight was not the difficulty of the whole fight, but rather the ridiculous amount of damage she does with no warning in the final phase, especially considering you have no turns to prepare since you need to attack her for her to enter her final stage. The immense amount of damage she deals makes it so that defeating her at level 5-6 feels like gambling, just hoping that you land a critical hit, or that her bite misses. Some things I had in mind were a potential warning for the bite, or just outright reducing it's damage considering it deletes half of your max HP or more if it hits. Although generally the fight is fine: difficulty is good, and mechanics are great!

There is an issue with using all positive items or skills that requires you to target Mila or her allies.
Targeting items and abilities like Blood heal, Quality Blood, Fortitudo Flammae will crash the game when used in combat.
Regenerate and all heals and buffs that don't require a target work just fine though.
What platform are you playing the game on?
I'm on android
I think this may be an android exclusive issue. I’ll see what can be done about it.
I don't know if this is a glitch with the pre-made saves but I can't spawn the NPC to give Bianca's quest in the vampire route
The guide said to enter waterfall ridge 3 times but I can't see anything different.
(My bad figured to use the teleporter instead of just walking in and out of the area)
I’m glad you were able to figure it out!
where do you find the dealer, after you killed dorian, when your in chapter 5?
Keep playing. You’ll run into him eventually.
Hello I found a problem with the week version 5/12/24
What is the issue you found?
In the item part in battle you want to heal yourself or do something else in that part and it sends you to a screen and you have to exit the game
Thank you for reporting this. I am looking into what can be done to fix this issue.

5.4.1 Guide

I’m sorry, the android port is not made by me, so I wouldn't know how to answer that.
Do you know who makes it and if they are possible to contact?
the66 on f95zone.
Does the game contain Spanking/Punishment scenes?
Yes, briefly.

For the Picture gallery, does it include any of the game over screens? If so, I cant seem to unlock those since, well, a game over requires a reset
edit, I should have had more patience. Good on ya!
Why i can't open the church on humilem, i already speak with the npc
make sure you are on the latest update, which corrects this issue (5.4.1)
Ok thx
Still locked
Are you using a save created in the older version?
If you are, you won’t see the changes. You need to use the premade saves, or start a fresh file.
well it still locked but if i choose premade save before v3 begin it work And when i go start a fresh file it still lock
Reporting a bug here. Android, CV ver 5.4.1. During fight with Vivienne can't use items.
EDIT: can't use items that target Mila. Liquid silver works fine, but herbs, for example, cause a crash
UPDATE 2: Same problem if importing saves
How can i get the dawnstone
It’s a reward for a side quest. Here is a full walkthrough:

What MKRU said. but also the fun way lol
It’s on the lower floor, the one Ashe is patrolling. It’s inside one of the two rooms opened by the timed blue switch.
So im not sure if anybody has pointed this out but i think there is a massive plot hole in the story. When you get the Option to begin the Vampire route at the start of Chapter 3. Also, I don’t recall Ashe appearing in Chapter 3-V. Where was she?!
Indeed Indeed
If I do start the vampire path, does it really matter who turns me or not really?
You can only start the vampire route by losing to a specific vampire. Check out the walkthrough for full details.

Made 2 saves- one for vampire and one for human route! Never played vampire route before so this will be intersting to say the least!!
Have fun!
i cant use items anymore after the Update. I imported my saves though so that have something to do with it. I cant use items during battle the games crashes and using some of the skills also crashes the game. Its also on Android so that may also be it.
Likely some odd side effect of using older saves. Items should work.
thanks for the info keep up the great work. After you complete the Rosenbland Estate on the Vampire Route i cant save anymore i can only use the healing circles to autosave. Sorry im being a nag.
no worries. I will look into it.
There is a walkthrough available in the downloads section.
I can not find it :c
use this link to an online version of it:

I have to say, I've been following for a while and I'm glad you've been managing, but Im a little disappointed that even after farming all the way to BP 80 and spamming laurels, I'm not allowed to beat the White Knight. :(
Jokes aside great job with 5.4.1
Thanks so much!
Nice update, but a little disappointed that there's no narrative mode saves like I suggested last time. You should upload narrative mode save files in in addition to the regular mode.
The Friedrich HQ really gave me a headache but it really was worth it.
Vampire Cassie •///-///•
She is too precious for the mortal world.
Just wondering.
When Cassie said "there's plenty of places to get healed" She meant holy water right? Would using sanctusaid turn someone into a thrall after frequent use or was that because Mila took too much blood from the pirates?
Constantly getting bitten and healed by the same vampire would turn them into a thrall.
could you tell me where this crash occurred?
Using a healing item during any fight, tried it a few times
Thank you. I will look into this.
How do you get to save files in Android 11?
When you start a new game it asks if you want to import them.
Will the android version get update ?
later today.
Oh nice
Does the mac version work on Sonoma?
I’m not sure, i never tested it for that.
Alright, thanks.
It's out already? Did I lose track of time? because usually it takes longer. Time really goes fast.
it sure does…
When the public release will be out ?
It's out! Go! Go! GO!!
do i have to start a new save when i update the game?
with every update, there are various changes made under the hood, which cause older saves to have issues. I would recommend using the saves I have included and start from there.
sorry to ask, but where can i find these saves? and how far into the game are they?
The saves are bundled with the game by default.
There’s 9 different saves at various points in the game (details are in the ReadMe). Patrons also have access to a dev room that let you further tweak your save with items, armor, and gold you may have had.
Does the nine saves work on the mac version?
Yep.
I seem to be quite lost, how do you forge the dawn bringer?
Here is a full walkthrough that should explain everything:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1VbSILz60_Yc7NyU-DRv3mrX0FVua3WSBD9nlN0Bf5jk/...
Can you explain to me in detail how vampire pregnancy works in Crimson Veil? Can female vampires get impregnated by other male vampires or is it only male humans that can do that? What about male vampires and female humans?
I’m no doctor. I’m not qualified to explain the intricacies of vampire breeding.
Well, you explained how thralls worked so I'd imagined you'd know more about this as well.
Hello there, I'm a bit confused on how to get "A disturbance in the woods." I've completed all the requirements according to the walkthrough however the NPC isn't spawning in Humilem Village. Is there anything else that needs to be done in order for them to spawn or is it a possible glitch?
One of the other requirements for the NPC to appear is that you finish the first contract of the vampire route. Are you sure you’ve done everything?
I have finished the 1st contract (the pirate one) and sent Bianca away. It mentions in the walkthrough to enter humilem village, waterfall ridge 3 times and the npc should be at the water but they don't seem to be spawning in.
You need to completely leave the village, not just that map. You can easily do this by warping to Dorian’s manor and back until the NPC spawns.
That was it, thanks for your help.
Happy to help!
hey I'm on the castle mission and I've already cleaned it all but I don't know where to go
Here is a full walkthrough for the game:

Thanks man
Ho Ho! Anyone in need of good wares?
This guy is just always here chat.
how much for the malispheres? Do you accept Arby's gift cards?
I completed the main route for the second time, it's still as satisfying as it is. Although, a New Game Plus would be nice if I want to start over again but keep my equipment and stats. Do you plan on adding something like that?
Yeah, that doesn’t sound too difficult to do. I’ll look into how it can be best implemented!
Glad to know you are thinking on it. Maybe add some hidden dialogues too, because a New Game Plus might become boring if it's just the same thing.
I mean, at that point it would start to become a bit too labor intensive instead of a fun, quick addition. I want the focus on new content to be on the vampire route, at least for now. I can’t spread myself too thin adding new content everywhere, as cool as that would be.
