UPDATE 6/28/20

The newest update is now complete and is currently being tested for bugs and such! I'm happy to say that the release for Crimson Veil 3.0 is IMMINENT! I only ask that you be patient for just a few more days to allow my testers and I plenty of time to catch and correct any issues we can find before release.

Each time I test the game, I have to start the game from scratch and I've gotten quite good at speed-running my own game at this point! I have started to notice much more how strangely I've put together the earlier parts of the game. There's a lot of little mistakes I keep finding that bother me. I go back and update a few a them, but there's so much I would need to fix that it almost doesn't seem worth it. Especially when maybe a year from now, I may look back and want to further correct what I already fixed.

If any of you decide to play the game again from scratch (first of all, thank you for putting up with it!), I think you will see a gradual increase in quality of the game as you progress. I'm very happy with how Chapter 3 came out and I think it tells a fairly compelling story. Crimson Veil is pretty much my first game, aside from a bit of rpg maker 3 that I dabbled in years ago (On PS2 no less)! I've learned a lot since I have started working on the game and making  coherent events is much easier for me now. My only concern with future updates is the file size of the game getting too big.

There are hundreds of images in the pictures folder right now. Many of them do not make it into the game because they don't get used. But, I'm worried that I'm adding so many pictures that RPG Maker will get bloated and not run properly any more. Is that even a thing? I'm not sure. I have this fear of getting really far and just being unable to continue because of the restraints of the program. Sort of like drawing a long comic in a notebook and running out of pages before you finish. I know many people are also turned off from playing a game because the file size scares them away before they even try it.

I have an end goal with the story I'm writing now. But, in between those story updates, I add side quests and I also have the vampire route to work on now as well. How big can I possibly make this game with the engine I'm using now? I'm not running out of creative steam whatsoever, and given that I continue to have the time and energy, I would like to continue working on the game well into the future. I hope that when I'm finally done working on Crimson Veil, that it is a game that is enjoyed and more importantly, remembered by the community.

Until next week!
