WEEKLY UPDATE!! 2/20/22

This week I began working a bit on enemy encounters. Dorian's boss fight has been a tricky one to manage. I want him to be difficult, but I also want to minimize any kind of major RNG shenanigans that can become frustrating in a drawn out fight. Some other bosses will also have new attacks with magical elements that haven't been included up until now. I got some inspiration from recently replaying the original Final Fantasy on GBA. Despite how simple it is, I find it very refreshing how straightforward of an RPG it is... Grinding and watching numbers steadily go up is relaxing for me.

Anywho, today I have some screenshots of another new area in the upcoming update.

As you can see, in this hellish zone, fleshy tendrils can attack Mila at any point while exploring. Even if you manage to fight them off, they will regenerate and chase you down once again.

These enemies will appear invisible on the map, and running from battle will push them off you, similar to the enemies found in the clinic dungeon. With an enemy this persistent, you'd best get to the end as soon as you can, before your resources are dwindled. Hmm... these tentacles sure seem familiar don't they...?

I've also been working on coloring some of the sketches I shared some weeks ago. They should be ready to share by next week. I'll put that on the table for the following weekly post.

That's all I have to share with you today. Until next week, everyone!

Huh. Hey, remember late last year when I posted a Google Doc with a list of contract ideas that I felt like sharing. One of them involves Vivien being revived by some of her vampire cultists that survived. I thought Vivien wouldn't return and I thought I can get around the "no canon characters" rule by her possessing somebody else's body. If the tentacle monsters are any indication, I guess Vivien will return back in the story in some way.
